Ryosokuin Zen Temple | Kyoto, Japan

September 5 - October 1, 2025

Journey with us through a world where butterflies and crystals trace parallel cycles of transformation. Wings Over Crystalline Landscapes is a contemplative exhibition presented by Make Visible, with works donated by Honolulu‑based artist Taiji Terasaki, hosted within the serene precincts of Kyoto’s 14th‑century Zen temple Ryosokuin.

Featuring over forty works, the exhibition draws parallels between the butterfly’s migration and the formation of crystals; revealing the quiet, elemental connections between all forms of life.

The show integrates fragrance infused fans and tea ceremonies at Rinchitei tearoom, alongside an augmented reality layer following the butterflies’ migratory path through the temple architecture. As Terasaki reflects, “Crystal growth and butterfly metamorphosis… unfold in quiet calm — where stillness shapes beauty over time.”

Presented by Make Visible, a nonprofit promoting conservation, preservation, and restoration through art and education.
